The Benefits of Wisdom: High Value
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. – Proverbs 3:13-14
The Scripture says the person who finds wisdom is fortunate because wisdom yields more than silver in profits and offers something higher than gold in gain. And therein is another benefit of wisdom. Its value is greater than money, silver or gold. It offers high value.
There are numerous things in life that money cannot buy, and gold or other precious stones cannot entice, no matter how much of them you possess, whereas you only need the deployment of wisdom to acquire. That is on one side.
On the other hand, the returns that wisdom offers are far more than the interest you get from an investment of money and valuables. Wisdom itself is the highest treasure you can boast of. It doesn’t just end there. Reading that passage further, the Bible says that, in addition to the above, wisdom also offers length of days, riches, honour, pleasantness, peace, and life to those who retain it (Proverbs 3:!5-18).
Please note the choice of words here, as God doesn’t use words just for the fun of them. These highlighted benefits of wisdom are only promised to those who retain wisdom, not those who merely display flashes of it occasionally and then relapse back to their normal way of thinking and doing things.
Wisdom is more beneficial to those who court it for the long haul, and not those who only flirt with it. The latter are those who get enthralled when they see the effect of wisdom anywhere and immediately covet it, but are not willing to pay the daily price to have wisdom as a companion in all they do. These people only have wisdom as an occasional visitor, and not as a daily companion.
To enjoy the values of wisdom, you must pay more than lip service to it.
You will succeed in Jesus’ Name!
