being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; – Philippians 1:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
According to our reference scripture above, there are two principal parties in a good work, He (that is God) and you (the doer of the good work). A good work is every righteous act, noble endeavor, altruistic initiative, charity, philanthropy, or other such lifting activities that we undertake. The passage for our meditation today is therefore telling us that such grand gestures actually originate from God (He who has begun a good work) and are inspired in the heart of humans (in you).
This also leads us to the next focus of our meditation. The passage tells us that God does not just originate good works and inspire them in you, but He will also be the one to complete them. It is not very often that you see the two words, begin and complete, used in a sentence. But in this regard, because the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, is involved in every good work, He is also obliged to see them to a conclusive completion. Now isn’t that a comforting knowledge?
No matter the good initiative and selfless endeavor you have topmost on your mind at the moment that you are ruminating over how to start or get it running, the Bible says God is the One who inspired the idea in you in the first place, and He would not just leave you to it, but He will also begin it with you and then work with you and in you to complete it.
Now that you know this, what are you waiting for? Get off your butt and start working on that good work now!
You Will Succeed in Jesus Name!
