We will close out our meditation for the week by continuing the third part of our series on the profile of a Psalm 1 businessperson.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. – Psalm 1:1-3
The Psalmist also says the blessed man does not sit in the seat of the scornful. That means he does not take the position of scorn and contempt, criticism and condemnation. The Psalm 1 businessperson does not assume the role of a faultfinder, identifying all that is wrong with everything and everyone, spotting problems with ease everywhere without proffering solutions to them.
Those that seat in the seat of the scornful assume the role of a judge over things or people; pinpointing what is not and postulating what ought to be with no concrete effort to fix it themselves. A Psalm 1 businessperson is not like that. He/she identifies a problem and sets out to fix it in an intelligent way that will bring commercial value or serve an altruistic purpose.
He/she does not poise on the seat of scorn and launches a tirade against individuals, setups, the government, and the system. The Psalm 1 businessperson is a systematic thinker, an intelligent implementor and a solution provider.
Anyone who wishes to make a difference must be of the same mind.
You will succeed in Jesus’ Name!
