For the next few days, we shall be meditating on business lessons in Psalm 1.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. – Psalm 1:1-3
Let us consider Psalm 1 as a business principle that will help any pioneer and his/her business to remain competitive and viable.
The first verse of the passage says that a businessperson who must be described as blessed does not run his business by the “counsel of the ungodly” or ungodly principles. In making business decisions, everything must be considered in terms of black or white, pro-God or anti-God, there is no middle course. For a Psalm 1 businessperson, any business practice that will not glorify God will be done away with, no matter how common such may be in the sector or how popular it may be in the world of business.
For a Psalm 1 businessperson, the touted winning formula of the day is sieved through the panel of the word of God or His counsel before it is adopted and implemented. The Psalm 1 businessperson can hold his own and does not allow himself to be sucked into the ideas of others, especially when such ideas violate the tenets of God.
You will succeed in Jesus’ Name!
