The Offering that God Accepts

Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. – 1 Peter 1:18-19

In many instances across the Bible, God expressly stated the kind of offering He expected to be presented to Him, such sacrifice must be without blemish. In other words, it must be of the highest quality to be acceptable to Him. Therefore, whether you are offering money, time, effort, service, worship, evangelism, prayer, helping others, and so forth, such must be done with a consciousness of giving the best to God (Colossians 3:23).

According to our reference passage today, we can see that even the Ultimate sacrifice that was offered as a propitiation for humanity, the blood of Jesus, was offered from a proverbial sacrificial lamb without blemish. That sacrificial lamb was Jesus Christ who had no sin and lived a blameless life (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 2:22, 1 John 3:5).

Below are other passages in the Bible where God expressly stated the kind of offering He desired to be offered by His worshippers. You will see that one recurrent word across these passages is “without blemish”, that is stainless and blameless.
