The Constants and Variables of Success (Part 4)
And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.
– 1 Kings 2:3
In the past three days, we have been considering God’s factors for success in comparison with other popular factors, such as location and choice of vocation. One factor that remains constant in all the scriptures we have considered thus far is the word of God. As we have seen, while your location or choice of career/business may be relevant to your success, to the extent that those are in tandem with your divine gifting and natural strength, these variables can change from person to person and do not necessarily have a universal application.
Someone who deals in night soil in a remote village can be extremely prosperous, whilst another person engaged in a similar vocation in a city will not be as successful. In the same way, engineers or medical doctors operating in the same location would have varying degrees of success. This shows that the variables of location and vocation are not certain to guarantee success.
However, one factor that is constant and is not subject to the principle of place or vocation is the word of God. No matter the career path you are engaged in or what location you are based, God does not need these to prosper you. According to the passage above, all He needs to make you a success is your dutiful adherence to His word – to keep His charge, walk in His ways, and keep His statutes, then you will prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.
You will succeed in Jesus’s Name!
