The Benefits of Wisdom: Prosperity and Longevity

Happy is the man who finds wisdom…Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand riches and honor. – Proverbs 3:13-16

The benefits of wisdom we will consider today are prosperity and longevity. According to our reference scripture, wisdom has length of days in its right hand, then riches and honor on the left. Those sound like things anyone would like to have, don’t they?

We have already considered many benefits of wisdom. We have also seen how some of these benefits came into play in the lives of some biblical figures. Classic among the examples we looked at was King Solomon, who had so much wealth and fame through the wisdom that God endowed him with.

Therefore, claiming that wisdom has the facility to avail whoever possesses it some of the endowments we have considered before and will highlight in future under this series is not far-fetched. Wisdom is multidimensional in its application, just as it is in its benefits.

For today, we shall consider two of those. Firstly, the Bible says wisdom has riches in its possession. Wisdom does not directly use riches for itself. It rather endows those who are wise with the riches to use as they please. After all, who better to entrust with resources than a wise person?

There are many ways wisdom helps someone access prosperity. One of such ways is through innovative ideas, witty inventions, or other forms of breakthrough. Further, wisdom can also endow someone with the ability to be so good at what they do that they become wealthy from their trade. It can also help one manage resources efficiently so that they multiply greatly.

However, it is one thing to be prosperous, it is another thing to live long enough to enjoy one’s wealth. Wisdom also comes in handy here by enabling the wise and wealthy to make healthy living choices that will help them live well and live long. Even if all the benefits of wisdom we had previously explored are not memorable enough to spark one into action to go for it, this sweet combination of prosperity and longevity should be motivation enough to get you actively courting it, shouldn’t they?
