The Benefits of Wisdom: Knowledge, A Companion of Wisdom
When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you. – Proverbs 2:10-11
Yesterday, we considered the preservation and safekeeping abilities of wisdom to those who are endowed by it. Today, we shall look at the ingredients of wisdom that make this possible in the first place. Our focus today in exploring the benefits of wisdom will be the companions of wisdom.
Still referencing the passage we considered earlier, certain entities jump out, including knowledge, discretion, and understanding. These are companions of wisdom. They operate hand in hand, side by side, with wisdom. You would not see wisdom in manifestation anywhere without seeing empirical vestiges of knowledge, understanding, and discretion.
Let us now examine these entities closely in relation to the benefits they promise to those who possess them. The companion of wisdom that we will consider today is knowledge.
The Oxford Advanced Dictionary defines knowledge as “awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation.” The benefits of knowledge include better decision-making as it helps you assess situations more clearly and choose the best course of action. Thus reducing uncertainty and guesswork.
Knowledge also has the advantage of empowerment and confidence. This is because the more you know, the more confident you feel in your abilities. Knowledge, therefore, gives you control over your circumstances and your future.
Another benefit of knowledge is career and financial growth, as knowledge opens doors, be that in helping you get hired, promoted, or start your own endeavor. Apart from this, having specialized knowledge in any field can be very rewarding.
Knowledge also gives you the advantage of a better understanding of the world, as it helps you make sense of current events, history, science, cultures, and social issues. This particular advantage can help you become more empathetic while also broadening your perspective.
Knowledge can also help you foster a sense of personal growth or accelerate self-actualization. This is because knowledge makes you more curious, more reflective, and better at critical thinking. Thus, knowledge has the advantage of helping to improve your mental health while also keeping your brain sharp.
The sixth advantage of being knowledgeable is improved communication. Being well-informed makes it easier for you to have meaningful conversations and articulate your thoughts clearly.
Lastly, knowledge also offers the advantage of protection and safety. We talked about this yesterday. Knowledge offers certain protection, including helping you be aware of your rights and health information or easily spot deception and other schemes that are meant to deceive you.
Knowledge alone gives you these many advantages. That is why they say that knowledge is power. However, on its own, knowledge avails little. But with wisdom, it can avail much. The more reason you need to seek wisdom.
You Will Succeed in Jesus Name!
