The Benefits of Wisdom: Greatness and Honor

Wisdom is the most important thing; so get wisdom… Treasure wisdom, and it will make you great; hold on to it, and it will bring you honor. It will be like flowers in your hair and like a beautiful crown on your head. – Proverbs 4:7-9 (NCV)

We are still considering the benefits of wisdom from this passage. As an introduction, the scripture reinforces that wisdom is the most important thing anyone can have. No earthly treasure compares to it in worth and utility. It is applicable in all life situations and is effective in its ability to deliver results. Now to the benefits, the Bible also says wisdom can make you great if you treasure it, and it will bring you honour if you hold on to it; thus, dignifying your head (destiny). Let us consider these one after the other.God says you must first treasure wisdom to activate its greatness potential. We know how we seek and handle what we consider articles of great value, the inconveniences we subject ourselves to get them, and how we fawn over them once we lay hold of them, ensuring they are well-maintained and secured. Ascribing similar diligence to seeking the counsel of wisdom on every matter is an inroad to greatness.

Secondly, holding onto wisdom is the formula for honor. How do you do that? By earnestly heeding the counsel of wisdom and making a fuss about observing its dictates. Opting to do things the wise way, as opposed to the popular way, will always stand you out from the pack because wisdom may be a common phenomenon in terms of people’s awareness of it, but its application is not common. Those who diligently seek and apply it in their daily living are the ones who become great and honorable. They are the models of many and the envy of others. You will succeed in Jesus Name! Also read:You can now partner with the Daily Dew Ministry by clicking here
