The Benefits of Wisdom: Creative Variety

O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions. – Psalm 104:24

Another benefit that wisdom can confer on the one who has it is a variety of creativity. Wisdom makes for creative variety and can help you come up with an assortment of ideas, a range of goods, a diversity of solutions, and multiple offerings. It is such a desirable asset.

From our reference scripture today, the Psalmist marvels at the manifold works of God and then acknowledges that they are all products of wisdom. If you take time to consider all that God has created on the earth alone, which is one of the smallest of His creatures, you will agree that He must be an awesome Being to have conceived and then rolled out the vast creatures that make up His works in their intricate entities.

To imagine the sheer number of creatures is another thing. Humans alone are estimated to be over eight billion in number, not to mention others such as beasts, birds and sea creatures, with all of them having various species numbering in hundreds of thousands. That is another attestation to the awe-inspiring nature of God.

Meanwhile, in creating all of them, He had wisdom for company. Wisdom was His primary resource, and it played a major role in helping Him come up with such masterpieces in their numbers.

This passage below says it better:

“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion…“The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, From the beginning, before there was ever an earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills, I was brought forth; While as yet He had not made the earth or the fields, Or the primal dust of the world. When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle on the face of the deep, When He established the clouds above, When He strengthened the fountains of the deep, When He assigned to the sea its limit, So that the waters would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth, Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him, Rejoicing in His inhabited world… – Proverbs 8:12,22-31

This is wisdom itself highlighting both its ancience and its presence at creation. We will still consider this passage in detail under this series. However, for today’s meditation, the passage helps us to understand the importance that God Himself, the Ultimate and the Creator of all, places on wisdom, and how wisdom helped Him to create, develop, design and fashion a variety of things. It can serve you as well.
