Another principle we learn from Nehemiah’s leadership playbook is advocacy. We had earlier meditated on how he had such a great burden for people, his compatriots in the land of Judah, which spurred him into action to do something to improve their welfare.
Devotion is another principle we can learn from Nehemiah’s brand of leadership. He was a leader not just in substance, but also in the spirit. He was a faith-driven authority figure who was given to prayer, fasting and other spiritual disciplines.
The first principle of leadership from Nehemiah’s playbook is burden for the people and the land of origin. From the reference passage, we can see that the spontaneous reaction of Nehemiah when he was told about the depravity of his compatriots
The next thing Nehemiah did after deciding to take on the responsibility of leadership was to pursue social justice by confronting oppression in the land. The scenario that Nehemiah met upon ascending to leadership was not savory.
