A leader who speaks kind and encouraging words to his lieutenants will command their loyalty and have them eating at his palms. Whereas a leader whose communication with his followers is mostly laced with negative and threatening words will not enjoy their allegiance.
Yesterday we meditated on service as the first factor in the making of a servant leader. The second fundamental of servant leadership which will form the basis of our meditation today is responsiveness.
In continuation of our meditation on what it takes to be a servant leader who is worth dying for as seen from the counsel delivered by the elders to king Rehoboam, the first lesson we will meditate on today is the first piece of the advice, service.
These elders therefore presented him a blueprint for servant leadership, saying, “Help these people today. Serve them. Answer them with good words. If you do, then they will be your servants forever”
