Our meditation today shall be on what you do in a time of peace, low activity, or an off-peak period. Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God, for he removed the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images.
Why You Should Not Give Up Yet (7). It is easy to worship God and be committed to His works when things are going smoothly. But when situations become rough and everything seems to be going downhill, that is when the real devout are known. Adversity reveals the true nature of any man – just like money and power.
This sums up God’s expectations of us in terms of how we perceive and respond to unfavourable circumstances. He doesn’t want us to just give up and become downcast and moody, carrying a long face everywhere and infecting or offending others with our sour mood.
Today, we will also consider another reason to hang on and not give up in the face of the multiple challenges of life. I would have been without hope if I had not believed that I would see the loving-kindness of the Lord in the land of the living.
When beleaguered with troubles, another reason not to give up, but hang on is to draw encouragement from the knowledge that every trial is a refining process to produce a better you. Just like there is no promotion from one class to a higher one in schools without passing some tests or examinations, so also is there no sustainable upgrade in life unless one has successfully transited from a mental, emotional and spiritual realm to a higher one.
Today, we will meditate on another reason for you not to give up yet in case you are currently facing the rough sides of life. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
