The Benefits of Wisdom: Riches, Wealth and Honor
Then God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king—wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.” – 2 Chronicles 1:11-12
Solomon only asked God for wisdom and knowledge to enable him to accurately judge the people he was king over and not miscarry justice as human judges are prone to do.
However, his request so impressed God that He decided to give more than wisdom. God also added riches, wealth and honor to the package for Solomon. And He did that in unprecedented measures such that no ruler before or after him would have. That is one of the benefits of wisdom, it tends to load its possessor with an extra, more than they bargain for in measures,
As we can see from Solomon’s example, exhibiting wisdom in an endeavor has the advantage of attracting fame, dignity, riches, and honor. As it was with Solomon in those days, so is it applicable in our contemporary times. Those who possess an unusual depth of wisdom become renowned and are celebrated across the world. Also, the offshoots of wisdom, such as products, services, technology, or other offerings, end up becoming global icons.
Conversely, an average idea or offering in the hands of a wise (wo)man also tends to blow out of proportion, not because the ideas are extraordinary themselves, but because of the wisdom possessed by the person(s) they emanate from.
These are some of the privileges that wisdom confers. It makes the ordinary extraordinary and the normal to become phenomenal. The more reason you need to diligently seek it so that you too can enjoy its benefits.
