Administration of Justice
And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice. – 1 Kings 3:28
Another endowment of wisdom which we shall consider today is the effective administration of justice. Wisdom makes an excellent judge, not just a judge of civil cases alone, but also a good judge of character and proceedings.
From our reference passage today, we can see how wisdom distinguished Solomon very early in his reign and made him a person of awe and reverence among the people. This came about because he was able to accurately judge a rather knotty case between two women who were fighting over a living child while denying the maternity of a dead one. The way Solomon unraveled this case to accurately determine the actual mother of the child without the luxury of modern technology like DNA test was simply awe-inspiring.
Imagine what it would have looked like if Solomon had made the wrong call in this case by declaring the wrong woman the mother of the living child. Even if we or the people of that time might never know the consequences of such a wrong verdict, he would have suffered greatly for such miscarriage of justice, because God takes justice very seriously, since every individual occupying a position of or administering justice is doing so as a representative of God.
Thankfully, through wisdom, Solomon got it right and made the right decision as to who was the real mother of the living child, and which woman was mother to the dead child. It did not stop there; this case also validated his kingship and accorded him great prestige among other kings in his time.
Wisdom affords its possessor an above the average understanding of matters, developments, circumstances and other life proceedings. Wisdom helps the wise person make an accurate call per time. it takes wisdom to know what to do per time. it takes wisdom to make the right call. It takes wisdom to accurately administer justice.
Perhaps you have not been getting many decisions right, that means you need to acquire or increase in wisdom. It is always a prayer away.
You Will Succeed in Jesus Name!
